Authorities Identify San Fernando Man Struck, Killed By Metrolink Train in Sylmar

Authorities Thursday identified a pedestrian who was struck and killed by a Metrolink train in Sylmar.

David Maldonado, 34, of San Fernando was struck by the train about 3:25 p.m. Wednesday and died at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.

Metrolink Train 220 was southbound on the Antelope Valley Line when it struck Maldonado in the 12440 block of San Fernando Road, about a half-mile north of the Sylmar/San Fernando Station, according to a Metrolink spokesman.

No one aboard the train was hurt. The train, which had 98 people aboard, was held at the scene, and buses were brought in to get passengers to their destinations.

The Los Angeles Police Department was investigating the fatality.
