Brush Fire Scorches Half-Acre In Griffith Park

A fire scorched about a half-acre of brush Friday in Griffith Park, but no structures were damaged and no one was hurt.

Firefighters sent to the 2700 block of North Vermont Avenue, near the Greek Theatre, about 11:20 a.m. doused the flames in about 45 minutes, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

A helicopter crew assisted in the firefighting effort.

People at the Griffith Observatory were advised to shelter in place, pending possible evacuation, but no evacuation was deemed necessary, the LAFD reported.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
