Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker filed for divorce Thursday from his wife of 22 years, Keisha Simone Nash.
Whitaker’s Los Angeles Superior Court divorce filing cites irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
The couple were married in Jamaica on May 4, 1996, two years after they met on the set of “Blown Away.” The couple have two adult children, 22- year-old Sonnet Noel and 20-year-old True. They each also have a child from previous relationships.
Whitaker, 57, won an Oscar in 2007 for his leading role in “The Last King of Scotland.” He appeared in this year’s blockbuster “Black Panther” and has a recurring role in the TV series “Empire.” His credits also include “Lee Daniels’ The Butler,” “The Great Debaters,” “Panic Room,” “Mr. Holland’s Opus,” “Bird” and “Good Morning, Vietnam.”
