The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County was at its highest amount for Independence Day since 2014 Wednesday, $3.671, despite a recent 25-day streak of dropping prices.

The average price dropped three-tenths of a cent Wednesday, after three consecutive slight increases, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. A 25-day streak of dropping prices ended Saturday when it was unchanged.

The average price is one-tenth of a cent less than one week ago and 9 cents lower than one month ago, but 74.7 cents higher than one year ago. It has risen 52.1 cents since the start of the year.

The Orange County average price was also at its highest amount for Independence Day since 2014, $3.614. It rose four-tenths of a cent Wednesday and is 1 cent less than one week ago and 10.8 cents lower than one month ago, but 71.9 cents higher than one year ago. It has risen 49.8 cents since the start of the year.
