The crash was reported about 7 p.m. just north of Pacific Coast Highway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP reported.
Traffic on Malibu Canyon Road was closed to traffic between Piuma Road and Pepperdine University, although some vehicles were being allowed through intermittently on one lane.
The victim was initially reported to be a woman in her 50s, but that was not immediately confirmed, a CHP officer said.
