A 21-year-old man who allegedly robbed a bank in Valencia was taken into custody at a residence in Acton fewer than eight hours after the robbery, officials said Saturday.
Sheriff’s deputies dispatched at 2:55 p.m. Friday to Logix’s Bouquet Canyon branch, 26459 Bouquet Canyon Road, reported that a man handed a bank teller a note demanding money. The suspect then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, said Shirley Miller, a public information officer with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
After an extensive investigation, a lead was developed by detectives from the sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau and deputies from the sheriff’s Santa Clarita and Palmdale stations, which included surveillance of locations known to the suspect, Miller said.
At 10:35 p.m. Friday, Joel Salazar was taken into custody at a home in Acton. He was booked at the sheriff’s Palmdale station, where he was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail, she said.
